SETUP & HELP
INSTALL, UPDATE AND FIX.
Everything you need to get GranTurisBro beeping, for release 0.1.0-rc6. Jump to: install, first lap, audio, update or remove, troubleshooting.
Before you start
- A Windows PC with SimHub installed.
- Gran Turismo 7 on a PlayStation that is on the same network as the PC.
- SimHub's Gran Turismo 7 connection working: pick Gran Turismo 7 as the game in SimHub and follow its game configuration. SimHub's own game setup and troubleshooting guide covers this part.
- Speakers or headphones connected to the PC. The cues play on the PC, not on the console.
Install
With the installer (recommended)
- Download the installer and run it.
- Confirm your SimHub folder. The default is
C:\Program Files (x86)\SimHub. - The installer closes SimHub, removes older copies of the plugin, and installs the plugin, its sounds and the track and car data. It can start SimHub again when it is done.
- In SimHub, accept the “new plugin” prompt, or enable GranTurisBro under Settings > Plugins. The plugin then appears in SimHub's left menu.
With the ZIP package
- Close SimHub and unzip the package.
- Right-click
install.ps1and choose Run with PowerShell. If SimHub is not in the default folder, run it from PowerShell with your folder:powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File install.ps1 -SimHubDir "D:\SimHub"
- Start SimHub and enable the plugin as above.
Use the script rather than copying the files by hand. Windows marks files from a browser download as blocked, and SimHub then skips the plugin without showing an error. The script and the installer both clear that mark.
Your first lap
- Open GranTurisBro in SimHub, pick your audio device and press Test beep.
- In GT7, start a session and drive one full clean lap from the start line. There are no cues yet on this lap; the plugin is learning your braking points.
- From the next lap you hear short, short, long before each braking zone. The long beep marks where you braked on your reference lap.
- A faster clean lap becomes the new reference on its own. References are kept per track and car, so they are there next time you start SimHub.
Replays, demonstrations and the menu background lap never become your reference. Restarting a time trial keeps it.
Audio settings
- Audio output device: any Windows playback device. “(System default)” follows Windows. Press Refresh after pairing a new speaker.
- Volume: 0 to 100 %.
- Audio lead: plays every cue this much earlier to cancel speaker delay. Bluetooth speakers usually need 150 to 250 ms; start at 200 and adjust until the long beep lands on your braking point. Wired speakers usually need none.
- Spoken tips: use Windows speech on the same device. They wait for a straight and never interrupt the countdown. In the advertised rc6 release the default coaching amount is Key corrections, so the coach speaks only now and then; choose All messages in the plugin's everyday controls to hear every message. A forthcoming build adds Medium for corrections and advice, without routine results or praise, and uses it for new settings. Existing saved choices are kept. You can also reduce tips or switch them off there.
Update or remove
- Update: close SimHub and run the newer installer (or the newer ZIP's
install.ps1). Your references and settings are kept. Each release includes the current track and car data, so installing the newest release from this site is the way to refresh it. - Uninstall: remove GranTurisBro from the Windows “Apps” list.
- Start over: with SimHub closed, delete the folder
PluginsData\Common\GranTurisBroinside your SimHub folder. That removes saved references and everything the plugin has learned.
Troubleshooting
The plugin does not show up in SimHub
SimHub skips a blocked plugin file without telling you. Close SimHub and run this in PowerShell (adjust the folder if SimHub lives elsewhere), then start SimHub again:
Get-ChildItem "C:\Program Files (x86)\SimHub\GranTurisBro*.dll" | Unblock-File Remove-Item "C:\Program Files (x86)\SimHub\PluginsData\Common\ResolveCache.json"
If it is still missing, look for GranTurisBro lines in Logs\SimHub.txt in your SimHub folder.
I hear no beeps
Press Test beep to check the device and volume. Check that SimHub is receiving GT7 data. Cues start only after one complete clean lap from the start line, and they pause while the plugin cannot place you on your reference lap, for example after going well off track. The status panel in the plugin says what it is waiting for.
I hear the beeps but the coach hardly speaks
In rc6, the default coaching amount is Key corrections and the coach speaks rarely. Open the plugin's Coaching & audio tab and set Coaching amount to All messages in the everyday controls. In the forthcoming build, choose Medium for corrections and advice; it is the default for new settings. The line starting with Coaching: on that card says whether the coach can speak, and why not when it cannot (for example no audio output or Windows speech failing); the GranTurisBro lines in Logs\SimHub.txt in your SimHub folder say the same.
The beeps come late on my Bluetooth speaker
Set an audio lead of 200 ms and adjust from there until the long beep lines up with your braking point.
The beeps come at odd places
Your reference lap probably had an unusual braking point. Use the Reset reference action (you can map it to a wheel button in SimHub) and drive a clean lap.
The cues stopped after I changed track or car
References belong to one track and car. On a new combination, drive one clean lap to set a reference there.
Does it know the ideal braking point?
No. It repeats and compares your own laps. It does not calculate a universal ideal point and does not control the car, so keep adapting to tyres, fuel and traffic.
